
ICPAS MEMBERSHIP SURPASSED 20,000 AND PAYS TRIBUTE TO ACCOUNTANTS FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS
10 October 2008, Singapore -- Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS) announces at its Annual Dinner and Dance that its membership has now surpassed 20,000. ICPAS has experienced continued growth in its membership adding more than six thousand members since 2000.
As the benchmark of the accounting profession, the Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (CPA Singapore) designation is widely recognised. ICPAS members and/or Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (CPA Singapore) are well sought after in businesses not only in Singapore but overseas too.
“In this fast changing world, ICPAS recognises that there are more we have to do to raise ourselves to the next level of growth. We will need to further develop ourselves to remain relevant”, says Mr Tan Boen Eng, President of ICPAS.
At the Dinner and Dance, ICPAS also pays tribute to seven of its members who have made significant contribution to the accounting profession and business community. The ICPAS Gold Medal is awarded to Mrs Fang Ai Lian (Chairman of Great Eastern Holdings Ltd) and Mr John Seow (a CPA Singapore in public practice). ICPAS Silver Medal Award goes to Professor Chan Yoke Kai (faculty member of SIM University) and Mr Yeo Ek Khuan (a Partner of BDO Raffles). The ICPAS Merit Award recipients are Mr Shanker Iyer (Chairman and CEO of Shanker Iyer & Co.), Mr Tan Wee Khim (Partner in the Assurance & Advisory Business Services Division of Ernst & Young LLP) as well as Mr Joseph Toh (Technical and Training Partner of Baker Tilly TFWLCL).
